A lot of us heard fireworks going off to celebrate the start of the new year. But for people in Israel, it wasn’t fireworks but rockets exploding that marked the new year. Hamas launched another rocket barrage at Tel Aviv, demonstrating that despite Israel’s attempts to root out the terrorists from Gaza, many more remain. The intense fighting continues, and the threat of the war from Hezbollah in the north continues to grow. Israel needs our prayers now more than ever. Israel needs our voices now more than ever. Elite special forces units from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard have been active in propping up the brutal Assad dictatorship, fighting in Syria’s civil war. Iran is helping—not just to support Assad, but because Syria gives them another base on Israel’s northern border. The IDF has now been striking military targets inside Syria, and a top IRGC commander was killed in a strike earlier this week. This is yet another expansion of the war…a war that Israel has no choice but to fight and win.

Tens of thousands of reservists have been activated, turning their lives upside down. Turkey’s President Erdogan went off on a rant about Israel’s self-defense in Gaza, stating that Benjamin Netanyahu was worse than Hitler. “They used to speak ill of Hitler. What difference do you have from Hitler? They are going to make us miss Hitler. Is what this Netanyahu is doing any less than what Hitler did? It is not,” Erdogan said. The fact that we recognize the utter absurdity of such claims does not mean they are not being well received in many places, giving cover to the Jew-haters to increase their attacks on Israel. This hatred and these false accusations are just another reminder that we must do all we can to stand in defense of God’s Chosen People.
