As the fighting continues against Hamas forces in Gaza, people in Israel continue to be targeted by rockets and missiles, by teams of gunmen, and even people trying to run them over with cars. I’ve heard more warning sirens than I can keep track of…and every time I hear them go off, I pray for the people who have only seconds to find shelter and safety. The upheaval caused by activating hundreds of thousands of reservists is hitting both the Israeli economy and Israeli families very hard. Crucial workers are gone from businesses, and parents are gone from their children. Israel has no choice…they are fighting for their survival. But it will not be a quick fight. The government has designated 2024 as a “year of war,” which means these fighters will have to continue to leave everything behind in defense of their nation—not just for a few weeks or even months, but through next year.

The code name given to the October 7 Hamas attack was Al-Aqsa Flood, named for the mosque built on the Temple Mount. Now, Israeli forces fighting in Gaza are getting ready to unleash a literal flood…pumping water into the terror tunnels Hamas has dug under homes, schools, hospitals, and mosques in Gaza. This flood will wash away their stores of weapons, and force them to come out from below ground. It’s a very fitting way for Israel to respond, and it will go a long way toward reducing the threat Hamas poses.

When the parents of one of the Israeli hostages still being held in Gaza met with the Red Cross, they were hopeful that she would finally get the medication she urgently needs. Instead, they were given a lecture about how bad things are in Gaza and why it is Israel’s fault. “Think about the Palestinian side,” the representatives of the Red Cross told Simona, according to news reports. “It’s hard for the Palestinians, they’re being bombed.” This is disgusting, but it is the way much of the world thinks…and yet another reminder of why we must continue to stand for and with the Jewish people.

Many world leaders have been pushing Israel to allow “safe zones” for humanitarian aid and travel in Gaza during the fighting. This week the IDF revealed that Hamas has been firing rockets from those safe zones where Israel has agreed not to attack. Of course this puts the lives of tens of thousands of Palestinians at risk, but the Jew-haters simply don’t care.
