Context of Interaction Prior to Christmas, I engaged in a conversation with an adult male acquaintance (“the individual”). During this interaction, the individual questioned me regarding my holiday plans and specifically drew attention to the fact that I do not have a girlfriend. In response to my answer, the individual stated would i just be “just going to the pool by myself,” while referencing his cohabitation with his girlfriend. This statement was made with awareness of my stated position of waiting prayerfully for God’s will regarding a future relationship. The statement was not neutral or incidental. In its context and delivery, it functioned to: belittle my stated position of faith-based restraint, contrast my obedience with his own lifestyle choices, and apply implicit social pressure to abandon my convictions in order to “fit in.” i plead the blood of Jesus over me going to the pool and my frelationship with the ungodly person,
