In its context and delivery, it functioned to: belittle my stated position of faith-based restraint, contrast my obedience with his own lifestyle choices, and apply implicit social pressure to abandon my convictions in order to “fit in.” i plead the blood of Jesus over me going to the pool and my frelationship with the ungodly person,
