I wanted to share a few thoughts with you that I had during my daily time with God. These brief musings were jotted down on one of my trips to Israel:

It’s early in the morning, and I’m having my daily devotions by the Sea of Galilee. When they saw the storm rage on the sea, the disciples cried out to Jesus. I am watching a beautiful bird fly overhead as I write. I’m thinking of the precious Hebrew word for “wings”—kndafim—from wings of protection. The Psalmist declared, “How priceless is your unfailing love! Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings” (Psalm 36:7).

The disciples found that strength from the arm of the Lord as His face shone upon them. They found refuge in the shadow of the Almighty. The bird I am watching spreads its wings like the eagle over its nest to protect its little ones from the sun, rain, and predators. It is extremely protective of its young—even willing to sacrifice its own life to save them. That is precisely what your heavenly Father did for you. May he strengthen you with His revelation today.

I am in The Galilee where Jesus called His disciples and where he lived. Nazareth is not far from Capernaum where I am today. There is a Hebrew word bayit which means “house.” It has a wide range of meanings: it refers to a house, a temple, a family, a lineage. King David wanted to build a bayit for God.

The Lord declares to you, “The Lord himself will establish a bayit (house) for you.” The Apostle Paul talked about Jesus who would build God’s true house (bayit), which is the family of God (Ephesians 2:21.) May God’s light shine in you, His house, today.

I trust that these simple thoughts will be a blessing and encouragement to you just as they were to me as the Spirit of God spoke them to my heart from His Word.
