As Israel ends its Memorial Day ceremonies, it moves onto the celebrations of Yom Haatzmaut (independence day). Celebrations include a ceremony at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem with the lighting of torches by a selection of Israelis who have made an outstanding contribution to society. Traditionally, cities and towns across Israel mark the country’s birthday with street parties and concerts on the night of the celebration.
In honor of Yom Haatzmaut, a celebration was held just outside of the Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem. Thousands of Israelis gathered near the FOZ Museum to dance, listen to music, and watch fireworks. Decorations, including a large banner and Israeli flags, were added to the outside of the museum.
